Ah yes, still buzzing over the Wax Trax party I attended at the Liar's Club on Sunday.  I won great swag that day and I finally  played this record last night and I was mind blown away.  Here's what I just posted on the Wax Trax Facebook page:

Outstanding!  The remaster is clear and bright, bringing home those neon jungle dance beats that pound out of the channels.  Half-crazed, chanted vocals phase back and forth in mad circles with wacked out sound effects and a frenzy of guitar and bass.  Like a blasphemous disco party for the god of hellfire.  Groovy, man!

It's funny how my cleaning lady yesterday covered up the picture of the Baby Jesus/Baby Judas with another album cover.  Was it intentional?  Did she think I was being blasphemous?  Naw, I was just having a little fun.

I sent out my new novel, Zelda Rising, to a famous Wax Trax and Post-Punk drummer name of Martin Atkins, who lives in Chicago and is planning on starting a museum of unholy relics from the era.  I fantasize that he knows Siouxsie Sioux and that she will request a copy too.  Yeah, sure, whatever.  Also of note: on its Facebook page, Quimby's Bookstore heralded Independent Bookstore Day and talked about a tour of Chicago bookstores soon, showing a map of the different locations.  Guess what was missing.  Zelda Rising Books.  Or something like it.

I'm leaving for a month's stay at Mom's in Trinidad, Colorado tomorrow.  I'll be doing some book promoting there, hoping to read at an open mike or two.

Though key figures are on the IL (most notably, former Hiroshima Toyo Carp player Seiya Suzuki), the Cubs are still winning and staying in contention at this early stage.  Not so the Sox, who lost spectacularly last night in the late innings and could end up with the worst record in baseball history, though I kind of doubt that will happen: they aren't that bad.  Will be interesting to see the Cubs playing in this lousy, chilly early spring weather tonight.  I slept most of the day away.  Meanwhile, Trinidad was in the high 70s and, yes, I am so ready for that.
