BLOG 6: MOTHER IS A BOY'S BEST FRIEND

Even though it's a made-up, Hallmark kind of holiday, I still wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day.  Here's mine, during a recent trip to the Trinidad Walmart, shopping for plants.  It was an adventurous trip, involving serious negotiations with the staff over a $5 coffee maker I wanted to buy and observing a 6 foot 3 transvestite Western cowpoke sporting a halter top and a six shooter on his/her hip.  I kid you not.

I was planning on going to a local open mic last night here in town to read from Zelda Rising, but gave in to lethargy involving my favorite Mom dish of pork chops, applesauce and rice; a showing of the brilliantly frenetic House of Frankenstein on Svengoolie with my go-to hunchback, Daniel; the Twilight Zone and the hugely entertaining Smokey and the Bandit II with its near apocalyptic battle between police cars and semi trucks; and a fire in the wood burning stove.  The weather has also been up and down here, rather chilly with deep clouds, but still nicer than Chicago spring.

I'll be spending July in Trinidad for my 70th birthday gala celebrations.  Made heavy plans yesterday for several baseball bum trips to Milwaukee in late May, late June as well.

Music involves downloading free drum and bass tracks off of Soundcloud, mostly.  Deadman x Rum, Medusa, Corrupted Mind ... deep drops with neo-psychedelic and rasta twists.  Good stuff.

I haven't been watching as I normally would, but the Cubs seem to be doing okay, though they have serious bullpen issues.  And the White Sox have apparently picked it up with a tidy winning streak.  In Japan, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp are two games out of the Central Division.  Trinidad Triggers season starts in late May.
